The EDF2014, 19-20 March (Athens)
The programme of the European Data Forum 2014 will cover different aspects of Big Data such as technical, application and socio-economic issues related to open data, linked data and Big Data. An important focus of EDF 2014 will be the establishment of a strong and vibrant European data community and ecosystem.
The second day of the conference (20 March) will start with an executive panel on Public Private Partnership (PPP) on Big Data. The session aims to explain the benefits of the PPP for the European economy as well as the value of the creating a European Data Ecosystem. The participants from industry,research institutes and the European Commission will discuss the opportunities and challenges of the industry to join the Public Private Partnership on Big Data.
Following the panel session, the NESSI presentation “A Big Data Value Innovation Ecosystem for Europe” by Dr. Harald Schöning, Head of Research at Software AG and NESSI Board member, will open an interactive networking session jointly organised by NESSI and Big Project.
Highlighting the business perspective of Big Data, the presentation will provide a vision for capturing and advancing the value of Big Data to benefit the whole EU economy. In addition, the aim is to promote a wide ranging data value creation for Europe covering all aspects that need to be addressed to create a European Big Data Innovation Ecosystem, such as research and innovation, application but also socio-economic and legal dimensions.
The presentation will kick start the BIG Networking session which will cover topics such as the Big Data Value Chain and Big Data Public Private Forum.
