The BDVA i-Spaces group has launched the call for Data Innovation Spaces labelling 2019. The call is open to any data innovation space or hub in Europe. The BDVA i-Space label recognizes that those initiatives meet the necessary requirements to boost data driven and AI based innovation at local level, and to establish collaborations with similar initiatives to foster the adoption at European level. The European Commission is taking forward its work on ethics guidelines on Aritificial Intelligence. The industry, research institutes and public authorities are invited to test the detailed assessment list drafted by the High-Level Expert Group.
The European Big Data Value Forum 2019 (14-16 October, Helsinki) is now open to different available options to sponsor the event. Interested organizations can choose among four different sponsorship packages (Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver, sponsoring coffee breaks or customized package).

Last May, the European Big Data Value community gathered in Sofia, Bulgaria, in an event organised by the Big Data Value PPP to strengthen collaborations among community members and increasing the visibility and awareness about the PPP in East Europe in general and Bulgaria in particular. 250 participants coming from the BDVA association, the BDV PPP projects and the local big data ecosytem enjoyed the program after a welcome video speech from Commissioner Mariya Gabriel stating great European ambitions for Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in Europe (see English translation here).
In the context of the European Big Data Value Forum 2018 in Vienna, the BDVA Smart Manufacturing Industry subgroup organized a workshop to debate on “Data-driven Collaborative Intelligence in Smart Manufacturing and Robotics”.
On December 7th 2018, the European Commision presented a coordinated plan prepared with Members States to foster the development and use of AI in Europe. This plan, that delivers on the European AI Strategy adopted last April 2018, proposes joint actions in four areas: increasing investment, making more data available, fostering talent and ensuring trust.
The European Commission and the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) organised last November 7th a Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) Working Group meeting on Big Data and AI in Brussels. This meeting focused on exploring how Digital Innovation Hubs can help boost the uptake of this technology by SMEs and contribute to the European data economy.
