BDVe project is pleased to announce the first of a series of webinars related to data and AI driven technologies, tools, services and business, and the impact of them in the European landscape. The webinars will be around the development, results and success stories of the projects under the scope of the Big Data Value PPP. This serie aims to offer a shared space for communication and potential engagement for projects and other stakeholders in the Big Data and AI scenarios in Europe. The RDA Europe project (https://rd-alliance.org/rda-europe) is calling on domain specific data experts to join its Ambassador programme. The programme offers up to six grants of a maximum of €7,000, targeting distinguished and well-connected domain experts who can develop a two-way communication and engagement vector with the Resesarch Data Alliance.
On September 28, 2018, the Council of Ministers officially backed the Commission's plans to invest jointly with the Member States in building a world-class European supercomputing infrastructure. The Competitiveness Council adopted a Regulation to establish the European High Performance Computing (EuroHPC) Joint Undertaking – a new legal and funding structure, which will pool resources from 25 European countries, build supercomputing and data infrastructure, and support research and innovation in the field involving scientists, businesses and industry.
After 18 months of work, BDVe project, the Coordination and Support Action of the Big Data Value PPP, presented its achievements during the first review of the project, a meeting that took place last 14th of September in Brussels.
On September 18th 2018, CEN-CENELEC organised a one-day workshop to pinpoint how standardization will support the take-up of AI technologies. The discussion focused on how trustworthiness in AI can be built for both Consumers and Industry and how standards can help.
Building on current European, cross-border, national and private initiatives, the Data4AI workshop focuses on identifying the main challenges ahead to develop the so-called European Data Space, essential for the development of AI, and to identify potential paths for the future. The Data4AI workshop is held on September 19 in Brussels and it is jointly organised by the European Commission (DG CNECT), the Big Data Value Association, and the euRobotics Association.
On September 12th 2018 BDVA organised its 28th Activity Group meeting attracting over 70 participants from BDVA members, the European Commission and other stakeholders. 6 different sessions were organised covering topics such as Industrial and Personal Data Platforms, Next Generation Data Platforms, Big Data and Energy, Big Data and Agriculture, Data Skils and Business models. The sessions were complemented with several pitching sessions, brokering and networking opportunities.
