CITIC (University of Coruña), BDVA Full Member, organises the workshop "Trustworthy AI: challenges in Financial Technology (TrustFinTechAI)" as part of the 24th European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI) that this year will take place on june at Santiago de Compostela. The Call for papers is open with a submission deadline of March 15.
On February 26th and 27th 2020 BDVA organises its 36th Activity Group with members in Brussels. Several workshops and sessions will be organised to give progress to the development of the AI, Data and Robotics Partnership strategic agenda and roadmap, and other related key activities such as data sharing, data platforms, data governance, and the impact of Big Data and AI in different verticals. The workshops will be complemented with pitching sessions, brokering and networking opportunities.
The BDVA has participated in the workshop “Policies to Support Open Data Marketplaces”, organized by the Create-IoT project (CSA of AIOTI, Alliance of IoT Innovation) in Den Haag (29/01/2020) to explore opportunities and discuss about the last European initiatives on Data Sharing in IoT ecosystems and Data Supported Services concepts and best practices.
On January 28th 2020 the European Commission (DG DEFIS) organised the "Copernicus and Artificial Intelligence” workshop focused on EU programmes, as well as the challenges and opportunities of connecting Copernicus, its data assets and stakeholders to the digital world. BDVA was represented in this workshop by its Secretary General, Ms. Ana García Robles, who presented the upcoming AI, Data and Robotics Partnership
ATOS organises in collaboration with BDVA, the BDVe project and AI4EU project a workshop on AI called "Driving AI in Europe". The workshop, hosted by ATOS, takes place on February 12th in Málaga and is a side event of the Foro Transfiere 2020.
With the increasing number of platforms, grids and infrastructures in the wider area of Language Technologies (LT), NLP, NLU, speech (including conversational agents), interaction and language-centric AI, there is also a growing need for sharing experiences, approaches and best practices to learn and benefit from the work of others and also, practically, to start a collaboration towards platform interoperability. The first International Workshop on Language Technology Platforms (IWLTP 2020) will take place on 16 May 2020 in Marseille, France, co-located with LREC 2020. Deadline for Submissions to the call for papers is 21 February 2020.
On December 16th 2019 the Board of Directors of BDVA approved the creation of a new Subgroup under TF7.Applications focused on AI and Big Data in the Financial Sector. The new subgrop is led by GFT Italy, BDVA Full member and coordinator of the INFINITECH project (the BDV PPP flagship project focused on the financial sector), and is co-led by ABI Lab, the Banking Research and Innovation Centre, founded and promoted by the Italian Banking Association (ABI).
On December 11th and 12nd 2019 BDVA organised its 35th Activity Group meeting with members in Brussels. Over 40 people joined the last BDVA Activity Group of the year 2019 with 4 specific sessions/workshosp organised around the toipcs of Big Data and AI for Smart Government/Cities, Data Science Skills, European Data Sharing Spaces and Data Governance. Additionally members were invited to pitch about their interests and capabilities, there was a presentation of a new subgroup in Finance under TF7 applications promoted by GFT and the BDV PPP Infinitech project, and we learnt about how the community of BDV i-Spaces is growing and much more!!
After the success of previous two editions in Sofia in 2018 and in Riga in 2019, the Big Data Value PPP will organize a new Big Data Value PPP Summit in 2020. This time, the chosen place is the beautiful city of Porto (Portugal). With PortoDigital as local organizer, the Big Data Value PPP Summit 2020 will be held from 13 to 15 of May 2020. One of the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in force since 2018, is to make it significantly easier for citizens to have any of their personal data, transferred across service providers. The "Data Portability and Services Incubator" (DAPSI) project will foster advanced research in the Data Portability field.
