Outcomes of the DIHs WG meeting on Big Data and AI

The European Commission and the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) organised last November 7th a Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) Working Group meeting on Big Data and AI in Brussels. This meeting focused on exploring how Digital Innovation Hubs can help boost the uptake of this technology by SMEs and contribute to the European data economy.  You can find the agenda of the day and further details here.   

Over 140 participants joined and contributed to the discussions. The European Commission set up the policy context for the Big Data and AI Digital Innovation Hubs with contributions from Max Lemke (Head of Unit for Technologies and Systems for Digitising Industry, DG CONNECT, A2), Andrea Halmos, (Policy Officer, DG CONNECT, A2), Saila Rinne (Programme Officer – EU Policies, DG CONNECT, G1) and Cécile Huet (Deputy Head of Unit, DG CONNECT, A1). Three different sessions were organised after the policy introduction:

  • Session 1: Leveraging the European Big Data Initiatives with the DIH network. Requirements and specifications for networks of Big Data Innovation Hubs
  • Session 2: Towards a DIH network on AI
  • Session 3: Measuring the impact of the (Big Data) Digital Innovation Hubs

Stakeholders from all over Europe representing national/regional and European initiatives input in the discussion.
