BDVA/DAIRO welcomes 11 new members
Today, 24th of March, General Assembly (GA23) officially welcomed 11 new members to BDVA/DAIRO. BayFOR, Optiva Media, FAU and POLIMI joined the association as full members. 7 organisations were officially admitted as associated members.
Strenghtening the European Big Data Ecosystem, the new members come from Germany, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Finland, France, Cyprus and Greece. The additions represent of 5 SME's, 4 academic organisations and 2 associations. BDVA/DAIRO encourages all of the new members to take active role in the association and is looking forward to the upcoming collaborations!

BayFOR (Germany)
The Bavarian Research Alliance GmbH (BayFOR) is a private company which supports Bavaria as a centre for science and innovation. BayFOR assists researchers from academia and the private sector with acquiring European funds for research and innovation projects and provide support through scientific consultancy services for EU projects. BayFOR is part of a large network: at regional level in the Bavarian Research and Innovation Agency and at EU level in the Enterprise Europe Network. BayFOR also regularly offers brokerage events. The Unit for Information and Communication Technologies, Engineering and Natural Sciences covers all ICT topics, and promotes research excellence in Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Robotics topics.
Optiva Media (Spain)
Optiva Media is devoted to helping TV companies around the world make the most of their services. Their team of 200 professionals covers all areas of the TV space from engineering to operations, media and metadata management, product design and development, research and business and technical consultancy. The Spanish Government has honoured Optiva Media with the Innovative SME stamp, which manifests through the definition of a threefold mission: Understand, Explain, and Change TV. Optiva's missions aims to find disruptive digital solutions using new technologies such as AI, ML, cloud, VR/AR, big data analysis, and blockchain to help TV companies around the world make the most of their services.
FAU (Germany)
The Chair of Information Systems of Technical Information Systems of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) conducts research around Semantic Web, Linked Data, Knowledge Graphs and decentralised information systems in close collaboration with the department Data Spaces and Internet of Things Solutions at the Fraunhofer Center for Applied Research on Supply Chain Services SCS of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS in Nuremberg. FAU plans to contribute their expertise around Semantic Web, Linked Data, Knowledge Graphs and decentralised information systems and Internet of Things/Web of Things, mainly in the domains of production and logistics.
POLIMI (Italy)
Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI) is a scientific-technological university which trains engineers, architects and industrial designers. Politecnico takes part in several research, sites and training projects collaborating with the most qualified European universities. Politecnico's contribution is increasingly being extended to other countries: from North America to Southeast Asia to Eastern Europe. Politecnico di Milano joins BDVA/DAIRO with three Departments: the Department of Industrial Engineering, the Department of Informatics and the Department of Mechanics. The main focus of POLIMI participation to BDVA/DAIRO is in the application of Data/AI/Robotic technologies to the Manufacturing Sector.

CARTO (Spain)
Founded back in 2012, CARTO has become the world’s leading Location Intelligence platform - allowing hundreds of thousands of users to unlock the power of spatial analysis. CARTO platform and solutions are based on Spatial Data analytics, focused on Artificial Intelligence in the form of machine learning, fuelled by Big Data. In 2020, their innovative spatial data project received funding from the European’s Union H2020 EIC Accelerator program to boost and strengthen the leading spatial data marketplace in the world. The scope of this CARTO’s strategic project is Democratizing access to Spatial Data Science with the next generation of spatial data platform.
ICT Innovation Network (Slovenian Chamber of Commerce) (Slovenia)
The ICT association of Slovenia (ZIT) is one of the younger associations among 26 branch associations operating within the Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia. ZIT operates in accordance with the interests of ICT companies, members of the association and co-create a business environment (ecosystem) that helps end users to use ICT technologies and solutions in the most efficient way. HPC and BigData is one of 6 main Focus Areas of their ICT horizontal network.
IMPALA AVOCATS (France)
IMPALA AVOCATS AARPI assists and advises innovative companies and their managers in all their structuring events in business law & intellectual property law and new technologies. Elected "Best Law Firm 2019 & 2020" by Le Point in corporate law, venture capital & new technologies, the Firm is positioned as a unique and responsive business partner dedicated to its clients, and at the forefront of the legal and technological challenges of a rapidly changing digital and technological environment. IMPALA AVOCATS advises companies on big data policies and issues and has published multiple articles on the subject matter.
JAMK (Finland)
JAMK University of Applied Sciences is a multi-disciplinary non-profit institution of higher education owned by public bodies and financed by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture. JAMK has defined six focus areas in its strategy including artificial intelligence data analytics and cyber security. Within those focus area, JAMK is regionally, nationwide and internationally committed strongly to the development of capabilities of enterprises and authorities through various R&D –projects. JAMK has research group focused on AI and data-analytics. We are highly focused on applying data analytics for cyber security. Information about those activities can be found from here and here.
Oxys Consulting (Italy)
Oxys Consulting, founded in 2016, is “the not technological partner for the digital transformation”. The company support clients in the definition of all the organizational aspects of the digital strategy. Oxys is active in the definition of the competences for the data science, within the e-Competence Framework. The company intends to invest in the research in the field of data science
Suite5 (Cyprus)
Suite5 Data Intelligence Solutions Limited (Suite5) is an Information Technology Solutions and Services SME established in Limassol, Cyprus. Their mission is to deliver innovative data-driven intelligence solutions through state-of-the art technologies, required for any organization to be placed at the forefront of competition through greater efficiency. University of Piraeus (Greece)
The Data Science Lab is a research unit in the University of Piraeus, Greece, active in Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, Big Data, etc. The lab participates in a number of BDV-related projects.
