The AI, Data and Robotics Partnership Memorandum of Understanding signed today
Today, 23rd of June, The European Commission and the AI, Data and Robotics Association (Adra) have signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the AI, Data and Robotics partnership. The partnership leverages 1.3B Eur of public investments through the Horizon Europe programme and 1.3B Eur of private investments in the period 2021-2030 to address the key challenges in European AI, Data and Robotics.
Adra was founded on May 21st to represent the private side of the partnership by BDVA/DAIRO, the Confederation of Laboratories of Artificial Intelligence in Europe (CLAIRE), the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS), the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAI) and the European Robotics Association (euRobotics).
“The use of Industrial Data and responsible & trustworthy Industrial AI opens opportunities for Europe to strengthen its position and these possibilities should be grasped quickly. Europe can and must be the pacemaker because particularly in Europe the required domain know-how is available, and we can rely on a powerful ecosystem of SMEs, big companies, research & technology institutes, and governments. This is our main driver and objective in BDVA.”, says BDVA/DAIRO president Thomas Hahn. “To realise this ambition BDVA is joining forces with other relevant organisations in Europe. As Data, AI and Robotics are increasingly reinforcing each other, BDVA has become a founding member of the new Adra (AI, Data and Robotics) association to shape this new important Partnership with the European Commission.”
BDVA/DAIRO has been instrumental in delivering this partnership and a main driving force. Setting up the AI, Data and Robotics Partnership was one of the recommendations of the BDVA position paper “Data-Driven Artificial Intelligence for European Economic Competitiveness and Societal Progress” released in November 2018. Since then BDVA and BDVA members have been fully committed to the establishment of this new partnership, leading the development of the 3 versions of the Strategic Research, Innovation and Deployment Agenda (SRIDA) and the partnership proposal.
