The SPIRE PPP organised 2 workshops in Brussels focused on exploring paths for the digital transformation of the process industries and to valide its vision 2050 for those industries. The Big Data Value PPP, represented by BDVA, was invited to participate in panels in both days. Data, Artificial Intelligence, data-driven transformation, and new data-driven bussiness models were are the center of the discussion.
On October 10th 2018 BDVA organises its 29th Activity Group with members in Brussels. During the day the BDV PPP SRIA update consolidation workshop will take place and members will jointly discuss topics such as BDVA AI position paper, Next Generation Data Platforms, and BDV PPP and EuroHPC JU calls for 2019 and 2020. In the afternoon 2 parallel sessions will be organised: "Big Data and AI for Smart Governance in Public and Private sectors" and "Big Data, Data Protection and CyberSecurity (in collaboration with ECSO)". The sessions will be complemented with several pitching sessions, brokering and networking opportunities.

The RDA Europe project (https://rd-alliance.org/rda-europe) is calling on domain specific data experts to join its Ambassador programme. The programme offers up to six grants of a maximum of €7,000, targeting distinguished and well-connected domain experts who can develop a two-way communication and engagement vector with the Resesarch Data Alliance.
On September 28, 2018, the Council of Ministers officially backed the Commission's plans to invest jointly with the Member States in building a world-class European supercomputing infrastructure. The Competitiveness Council adopted a Regulation to establish the European High Performance Computing (EuroHPC) Joint Undertaking – a new legal and funding structure, which will pool resources from 25 European countries, build supercomputing and data infrastructure, and support research and innovation in the field involving scientists, businesses and industry.
After 18 months of work, BDVe project, the Coordination and Support Action of the Big Data Value PPP, presented its achievements during the first review of the project, a meeting that took place last 14th of September in Brussels.
On September 18th 2018, CEN-CENELEC organised a one-day workshop to pinpoint how standardization will support the take-up of AI technologies. The discussion focused on how trustworthiness in AI can be built for both Consumers and Industry and how standards can help.
