The EUHubs4Data project officially kicked off !

On the first of September, the European Federation of Data Driven Innovation Hubs (EUHubs4Data) project officially started.

Funded under Horizon 2020 (DT-ICT-05-2020 call) and involving 21 partners from 12 countries, this project aims to become the European reference for data driven innovation and experimentation, fostering collaboration between data driven initiatives in Europefederating solutions in a global common catalogue of data services, and sharing data in a cross-border and cross-sector basis

BDVA has a pivotal role in EUHubs4Data, acting as Work Package leader for the establishment of the federation of DIHs and leading activities linked to community building and communication and dissemination. The project will last for 3 years and will contribute to the creation of the European Common Data Space.

BDVA at the Research and Innovation Days (day 2) - Data for Health

On the second day of the European Research and Innovation days, BDVA Vice-President Milan Petkovic (Philips) participated in the discussions of the panel on "Data for Health". This panel, falling under the Europe Fit for a Digital Age track, discussed the importance of data availability and accessibility for healthcare from an academic, societal but also industry perspective. 

BDVA Vice-President Milan Petkovic highlighted the pivotal role of data in healthcare innovation and in the delivery of better services and applications. He also draw the attention of the participants to the role that the upcoming AI, Data and Robotics Partnership could play in this application area and in collaboration with the other Horizon Europe Partnerships working on healthcare.

BDVA at the Research and Innovation Days (day 1) contributing to the sessions of the "Europe fit for the Digital Age" track

On the first day of the Research and Innovation Days, BDVA officials participated in two important sessions under the track "a Europe fit for the Digital Age".

  • During the morning, BDVA Vice President Laure Le Bars (SAP) participated in the panel on "Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, today and tomorrow".
  • In the afternoon, BDVA President Thomas Hahn (Siemens) was a keynote speaker of the session on "AI, Data and Robotics - building wider synergies around Europe" together with Cécile Huet, Deputy Head of Unit Robotics & Artificial Intelligence at the European Commission (DG CNECT). 

During the two sessions, the importance of the upcoming AI, Data and Robotics Partnership and recently released Strategic Research Innovation and Deployment Agenda was highlighted.

BDVA response to the public consultation on Horizon Europe first Strategic Plan

BDVA welcomes the possibility to provide feedback to the open consultation for the First Strategic Plan of the Horizon Europe Programme and specifically to support the European Commission’s strategic planning process for Pillar 2 - Global Challenges and Industrial Competitiveness area.

For each of the Clusters of Pillar 2 (and more in details for Cluster 4), BDVA's response provides some feedback to the European Commission in order to highlight synergies between Partnerships and research activities which can be exploited under Horizon Europe and to suggest ways in which Data and AI ca support the achievement of the desired impacts.

BDVA at the Research and Innovation Days 2020 !

The European Research and Innovation Days 2020 edition will take place from the 22nd to the 24th of September entirely online. BDVA will be present at the European Research and Innovation Days with several speakers participating in different sessions:

  • BDVA President, Thomas Hahn (Siemens) will intervene during the workshop on AI, data and robotics – building wider synergies around Europe which will take place on the 22nd of September at 16h.
  • BDVA President, Thomas Hahn (Siemens) will contribute to the Co-Design Session on Open Science and Open Innovation, scheduled for the 22nd of September at 14h. 
  • BDVA Vice President Laure Le Bars (SAP), will take part in the panel on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Today and Tomorrow taking place on the 22nd of September at 11h45.
  • BDVA Vice President, Milan Petković (Philips), will participate in the discussions on Data for Health which will take place on the 23rd of September at 10h30.

BDVA response to the public consultation on ethical and legal requirements for AI

BDVA welcomes the possibility to provide feedback to the Inception Impact Assessment concerning a Proposal for a legal act of the European Parliament and the Council laying down requirements for Artificial Intelligence. As already highlighted in BDVA response to the AI Whitepaper, BDVA strongly supports the development of a solid AI European approach based on European values.

Outcome of the BDVA Online Activity Group Workshop 38 on prioritisation of topics for the Data Deep Dive of the SRIDA (September 7th)

On the 7th of September, BDVA hold an online Activity Group meeting (AG38) which was entirely dedicated to prioritising amongst the topics to be included in the Data Deep Dive of the Strategic Research Innovation and Deployment Agenda. More than 70 participants joined the discussions and contributed to the prioritisation exercise.
